Perhaps you’ve felt overwhelmed, that the deck is stacked against you. The prophet Elijah was outnumbered by the prophets of Baal 450 to 1. They were well resourced, backed by the King and his influential queen, Jezebel. Elijah was on their turf and challenged them to a dual thought to be their strength. The crowd of onlookers would then witness an unparalleled display of divine power as Elijah called out to the Lord, the God of Israel. He is the one, true, living God who hears and answers prayer. When we commune with God we also have access to this same power. Therefore, we don’t have to be anxious about anything despite the odds because when we offer prayers of supplication we make our requests known to Him.
