Daniel was just a teenager, forcibly removed from his family, deported to a foreign country where he had been given a different name and subjected to re-education. Now he and three of his friends were being threatened with death because of the unreasonable, paranoiac demands of a pagan king. Yet, in Daniel chapter 2, we read one of the most beautiful prayers of thanksgiving in all the Bible. Daniel reminds us that no matter the circumstance, there is indeed a God in heaven worthy of our thanks for all that He has done. When we pray we worship God for who He is, confess who we are, and thank Him for what he's done.
