Experiencing Divine Grace

Part 2 - Jonah 1:17-2:10 (ESV) - Pastor Tim Kroeker

Hebrews 12:11

“For the moment all discipline seems painful rather than pleasant, but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.”

Jonah was in open rebellion, foolishly fleeing from the presence of God. His running led him to the very depths of the sea where he was finally swallowed by a giant fish. But that fish, rather than serving as punishment for his disobedience, became the vehicle for his salvation. God uses distressing situations to bring about repentance in our lives, so that like Jonah we can declare, “Salvation belongs to the Lord." When we have personally experienced God’s transformative work in our own lives we are then prepared to obediently fulfill the calling to make disciples of others.
