Living In Disobedience To The Divine Call

“Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.”
Jonah was Jewish, a privileged citizen of that blessed nation. What’s more, he was a prophet, one entrusted with the very words of God. However, when God sent Jonah to deliver a message of hope to Israel’s arch-enemies, he refused. But we discover in Jonah chapter 1 that God’s loving, redemptive plan will not be thwarted. When God’s people disobey the divine call he exerts his sovereignty and receives glory from the most unlikely places, even pagan sailors.
