I recently listened to a salesman pitch his product to a crowded room of potential customers. The presentation was quite convincing as he spoke of innovative technologies and unique benefits to the user. But by the end of his thirty minutes, everyone had the same question, “How much does it cost?” Money is where the rubber really meets the road, where theory becomes reality. And so it is in Luke’s salvation story. Jumping ahead to chapter nineteen, we read about the remarkable conversion of a sinner named Zacchaeus. The proof of his life-changing encounter with Jesus was found in his handling of money. From this man's story, we discover that whether rich or poor, giving reflects the condition of your heart.
